OUR STORY
It started with a MacBook and a very good trade.
We're Joe and Sara, a husband-and-wife team in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania. Sara is the plant person. Joe is the one with the slightly questionable ideas. Our Giving Grove is what happens when one of us says, "You know what would be cool?"
When Joe listed his MacBook online, a guy named Shawn asked if he’d trade it for a 3D printer instead. Joe had never used one and had no plan to start a business. He figured, what the heck.
Not long after, we were at an exotic plant show because Sara needed a few more plants. Somewhere between the rare aroids and figuring out where they’d go at home, an idea hit Joe: what if we made planters? Not boring ones. Weird ones. Cute ones. Gothic ones. Personalized ones. The kind you don’t see at every big-box store.
Joe tracked down the event coordinator and asked for a booth at the next show. We had no products, no booth and barely a business. But apparently we had a plan.
“Somewhere along the way, one of those ideas became the Hanging Bat Planter. And then the bats took over.”
What started as one gothic planter turned into something much bigger than we expected. Suddenly we were printing, sanding, stringing, packing and shipping bats constantly. They now hang in homes across the United States and in six other countries.
Still just the two of us
We went from one tiny printer to seven Bambu printers and a Snapmaker U1, all running in our home. We still do craft shows, plant shows and vendor events, because watching someone walk up to the booth, point, and say “I NEED THAT” is our favorite part of the whole thing.
Sometimes what we make is cute. Sometimes it’s creepy. Sometimes it’s completely personalized. And sometimes we make something just to see if anyone else wants one. Usually, someone does.

THE WHOLE CREW
Run by two, cheered on by six
We met during COVID and married in September 2023. We’re a blended family with four kids who have watched this idea turn into boxes stacked around the house and printers running all night. Part of our wedding vows was a promise to visit every MLB stadium together. We’re working on it.
